Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 26, 2026
Bowlski is a bowling stat tracking and social app operated by Aidan Twamley ("we", "our", or "us"), based in Texas, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data.
By creating an account and using Bowlski, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you have questions or concerns, contact us at bowlskiapp@gmail.com.
Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the Bowlski service. Here is exactly what we collect and why:
- Account information: Your display name, email address, and optional profile photo when you sign up. This is used to create and identify your account.
- Onboarding information: Your username, bowling frequency, age, gender, and playstyle — collected during onboarding to personalize your experience. All fields except username are optional.
- Game data: Frame-by-frame bowling scores, total score, optional bowling center name (typed manually — we never access your device location), game type (casual, league, or practice), and the date your game was played.
- Calculated stats: Strike percentage, spare conversion, open frame percentage, split data, high game, game count, and other stats derived from your game data.
- Social content: Posts, photos, videos, polls, comments, and likes you create or interact with on the social feed or in groups.
- Group data: Groups you create or join, including group name, description, photo, privacy settings, and membership.
- Scoreboard photos: Images you upload or take for the AI Scoreboard Scanner. These photos are sent to Google Gemini's API for frame extraction only. We do not store your scoreboard photos — they are processed and discarded immediately after scanning.
- Push notification preferences: Whether you have enabled notifications and which notification types you have turned on (friend activity, personal bests, group posts, etc.).
- Subscription status: Whether you are on the free tier or Bowlski Pro, your subscription plan type, and your subscription renewal status. We do not store payment card information — all billing is handled by Apple.
- Technical data: Basic device information such as device type and operating system version, used only for troubleshooting app issues.
We do not collect your GPS location, contacts, browsing history, or any data not listed above. We do not use any third-party analytics tools.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Bowlski account
- To calculate, store, and display your bowling stats and progress over time
- To power the social feed, groups, and friend features
- To process your scoreboard photos through the AI Scanner and return frame data to you
- To send push notifications about friend activity, personal bests, and group posts — only if you have enabled them
- To verify and manage your Bowlski Pro subscription entitlements
- To respond to support requests sent to bowlskiapp@gmail.com
- To identify and fix technical bugs and crashes
We do not use your data for advertising targeting, sell your data to third parties, or use your data to train AI models.
Third-Party Services
Bowlski relies on a small number of trusted third-party services to operate. Each service receives only the data necessary for its function:
- Supabase (supabase.com): Our database and authentication provider, hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. Supabase stores your account information, game data, social content, and group data. All data is protected by Row Level Security, meaning each user can only access their own data. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.
- Google Gemini (deepmind.google): AI model used exclusively for the AI Scoreboard Scanner feature. When you scan a scorecard, the cropped image is sent to Gemini's API to extract frame-by-frame bowling data. Images are not retained by Google beyond the API call. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
- RevenueCat (revenuecat.com): Subscription management platform that tracks your Bowlski Pro entitlements, purchase history, and subscription status. RevenueCat does not have access to your bowling data or social content. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Apple (apple.com): Handles all payment processing for Bowlski Pro subscriptions purchased through the App Store. Apple's privacy policy is available at apple.com/privacy.
We do not use advertising networks, marketing platforms, or analytics services.
Data Visibility and Social Features
Bowlski is a social app. The following data is visible to other users based on your activity:
- Public profile: Your display name, avatar, and stats visible on your profile page to other users.
- Social feed posts: Game scores you share, text posts, photos, videos, and polls you post to the public social feed are visible to all Bowlski users.
- Group posts: Content you post inside a group is visible to all members of that group. Public groups are discoverable by all users.
- Friend stats: Friends can see your game stats. Pro users can see more detailed stats of their friends than free users.
You control what you share. Game scores are not automatically posted publicly — you choose when to share.
Push Notifications
If you grant Bowlski permission to send push notifications, we may send you notifications about friend activity, new personal bests, group posts, and other in-app events. You can manage or disable notifications at any time through your device's Settings app under Notifications.
Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account through the Settings screen in the Bowlski app, all of your personal data — including your profile, game history, stats, posts, group memberships, and any other associated data — is permanently and immediately deleted from our systems. This deletion is irreversible. If you wish to use Bowlski again after deleting your account, you will need to create a new account from scratch.
If you cancel your Bowlski Pro subscription without deleting your account, your account and data are retained and you revert to the free tier.
Children's Privacy
Bowlski requires users to be at least 13 years old to create an account, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account, we will immediately delete their account and all associated data. If you believe a child under 13 is using Bowlski, please contact us at bowlskiapp@gmail.com.
Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Bowlski uses the following security measures:
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Row Level Security (RLS) is enforced at the database level — no user can ever read or modify another user's data, even if they have the app's public credentials
- API keys and secrets are stored server-side and never exposed in the app code
- Authentication is handled by Supabase's secure auth system
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we use best practices to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security against all threats.
Advertising
Bowlski does not currently display advertisements. We do not work with ad networks or share your data with advertisers. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated and you will be notified.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time.
- Correction: You can update your profile, display name, and other information in Settings.
- Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings at any time.
- Notification control: You can enable or disable push notifications through your device settings at any time.
For any data requests not handled in-app, contact us at bowlskiapp@gmail.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Bowlski evolves. When we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Bowlski after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
